What is the reality of modern Ukraine? It depends. Ukraine is a deeply cultural country, a beautiful tourist attraction, an industrial centre, a well-educated and healthy sports-loving nation. This is Ukraine that we proudly call our home.
Ukraine is still relatively unknown to the world. We want to improve the perception of our country abroad, to promote a positive image of Ukraine as a European country with both a rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary culture. After all, a country’s reputation seriously affects not only the flow of investment, but also the ability of its companies to compete successfully in the global marketplace.
On October 17-19, 2013, London have hosted an unprecedented event – The Days of Ukraine in the United Kingdom. This project is the brainchild of the Firtash Foundation, and its main sponsor is Group DF, an international conglomerate owned by a prominent Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Firtash.
“We strive to promote Ukrainian culture, literature, and language abroad. Ukraine is a European country, and we wish the world to know it. Ukraine has many advantages over other European countries - a vast area, mountain ranges, two seas, the fabled fertile black earth, a long rich history, colourful folk traditions, and talented youth. Days of Ukraine is a great opportunity to showcase our homeland to British residents, and tourists, politicians, diplomats, and cultural figures. This is a project that every Ukrainian can be proud of,” said Lada Firtash, the chairman of the organizing committee and head of the Firtash Foundation.
Days of Ukraine has the support of the Mayor of London and other political and business luminaries in the UK.
